BODY & APPEARANCE.

1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

Hoshi is fairly tall for a Japanese girl her age - around five feet and six inches - with a lean, somewhat muscular build.

2. How old is she?

Sixteen.

3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch?

Hoshi likes to give off an air of confidence (whether or not she actually is confident is another matter entirely), and so she carries herself well. She has near perfect posture; back straight, shoulders aligned, head held high.

4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

Working as a Magical Hunter keeps her in pretty good shape. All that badass martial arts stuff makes for a pretty good workout. She falls ill on occasion, but she isn't worryingly sickly.

5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

Hoshi moves quickly and brusquely, giving off a cold, terse air with every step she takes. If someone is in her way, she'll politely brush them aside; if they're too close for her liking, she'll put distance between the two of them asap. The actions she takes to distance herself are polite, if somewhat blunt, and never aggressive. She's quick on her feet and has good balance, so she isn't clumsy at all. She moves with purpose, but every move is precise and rehearsed.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror?

She is very pretty, and has possibly had the occasional admirer at school – all of whom she's rejected, of course. Her image of herself is very different, however; she sees herself as a monster, a person who doesn't deserve to be loved.

7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Her skin is pale and clear, save for a few scars here and there.

8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style.

Hoshi has long, straight hair that falls to her butt and is deep purple in color. It's all cut in a neat, straight line - no layers or anything - and her bangs are cut in a straight line across her forehead. In her magical girl form, it's done up in a bun, but normally she wears it down for maximum aloof hair swishing action.

9. What color are her eyes?

Violet; a few shades lighter than her hair.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

There is a rather noticeable scar on her right cheek: a memento of the night her mother went nuts and attacked her.

11. What are her chief tension centers?

Everywhere, honestly. She's very tense. Primarily shoulders, feet, and hands/wrists.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit?

Hoshi can afford basically whatever the hell fancy clothes she wants, but while her clothing is expensive and high quality, it's all very plain, so as to avoid drawing attention to herself. Collared shirts, slacks or pencil skirts, classy blazers, nice shoes. Mostly dark/neutral colors, nothing too bright. It's all very stiff and starched, too; she even keeps her school uniform is crisply ironed.

13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them?

They fit her well, and they suit her. Comfortable isn't exactly the right word, but she's more or less okay with what she wears.

14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

Nope! She dresses a lot flashier in her Magical Hunter form; the outfit is basically a sparkly aikido uniform. The kimono is black trimmed with silver, with shorter sleeves that end at the elbow. The hakama itself is dark purple at the top, gradating toward a lighter lavender color toward the bottom. As typical of women's hakama, it's worn just below the bust line, secured with a patterned sash: black with silver and purple stars. As for shoes, she wears black wacoku: lightweight kung-fu shoes with extra padding along the heels. And when she enters her magical girl form, her hair is tied up in a cute sock bun to keep her hair out of her face, with some kind of cute star barrette... thing.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

Briefs.

SPEECH.

1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

Hoshi's voice is on the deeper side and almost monotone, but still very recognizably feminine.

2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate?

She speaks somewhat softly, though she's not terribly difficult to hear. She enunciates clearly and generally doesn't stutter or hesitate, because she says so little, most of the time. Generally, she tends to go out of her way to avoid having to chat with people. When she does, she's short and to the point – whatever it takes to end the conversation as quickly as possible. She'll open up more around those she trusts and/or cares for, but those people are few and far between. And with her father, she is very... awkward, almost. She stumbles over her words a lot more, stutters a bit, almost as though he makes her nervous.

In Hunter mode, she's... louder, a little more talkative. More expressive, too.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

Her language is very formal – doesn't use a lot of contractions, that kind of thing. That's about it.

4. What languages does she speak, and with how much fluency?

Fluent in Japanese, naturally, and she's not bad at English. Better than the average student her age, but that's not really saying much.

5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

No.

6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words?

Being such a closed off and thoughtful person, she does tend to think before speaking; she chooses her words very carefully. Impromptu is not really her thing because of this.

7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

It's not so much eloquence as it is that she just expresses herself pretty well. As mentioned above, she takes care to choose the right words, and she's gotten good at using as few of them as possible. When she's feeling uncomfortable or particularly emotional, this will change and she'll become much less eloquent, but usually she'll simply choose to not speak at all, rather than risk stumbling over her words.

MENTAL & EMOTIONAL.

1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart?

Hoshi kind of threw herself into her schoolwork after the thing with her mom happened, and she excels in most subjects, so yeah, she is definitely book-smart. Street-smart, not so much, because lol pampered rich kid.

2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate?

She isn't reckless at all! Rather, she likes to be prepared for everything, so she spends a lot of time deliberating and planning. When taken completely by surprise, she's at a complete loss.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

Very logical and practical – it helps her stay detached from the situation and/or people she's dealing with, which is just how she likes it. In general, she tries to put logic above her own personal feelings.

4. What kind of education has the character had?

She's attended primary school and is now in upper-secondary school, and her schools have only ever been expensive private rich kid institutions, so it's safe to say that she's had a pretty good education. She studies really hard and gets pretty good grades, so.

5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about?

She has no idea, to be honest. Her first answer would be business, but that isn't out of any kind of interest as much as she is expected to take over her family's business someday. Otherwise, she excels in all subjects in school, lucky her.

6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert?

Absolutely an introvert. She's very detached, feels very much like she just doesn't belong with the rest of the world.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

Hoshi is very cool and even-tempered - or, rather, that's how she appears. She takes care not to show her emotions, which tends to make her appear very cold and aloof. She's very stiff, and she can become very driven and determined once she's put her mind to something. She can be very stubborn that way, and she likes to have something to focus on. As for mood swings, no - lol, what are these moods you speak of! - she tends to bottle everything up.

8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

Uninterested, generally, or that's what she wants everyone else to think. She would like to befriend the people she meets, but she feels that it's in everyone's best interests that she stays away.

9. Is she more likely to act, or to react?

React. Acting first would draw too much attention, when she would much rather get by without anyone noticing her.

10. Which is her default: fight or flight?

It depends on the situation. If she cares, she'll fight. If she's scared, she might try to run away. If she doesn't care, she will simply turn her back and walk away.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

She might say something funny without realizing it, but I'm gonna go with nope.avi in general. Humor is just something she doesn't get.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them?

PTSD is the first thing that comes to mind. Uh let me research this and get back to you.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person?

Haha oh man.

• Her family life was pretty normal and happy up until she was seven years old, when her mother inexplicably went crazy and attacked her. She doesn't remember the incident very well, but she does remember that she killed her mother. Her family later went to great lengths to keep the story quiet, which has only reinforced her belief that it was her fault. As a result, she's kind of withdrawn into herself and keeps a quiet distance from other people. A terrible, monstrous person like her doesn't deserve friends, after all.

• Shortly after the incident with her mother happened, Hotaru appeared, and Hoshi has clung to her wolf buddy ever since. It's at Hotaru's encouragement that Hoshi has become so detached; she's learned from her little alien friend that she needs to close herself off and keep a safe distance from the rest of the world so that she doesn't hurt herself or anyone else. This is, of course, all part of the Directors' plan: by turning into this stoic girl, she perfectly fits the role of the darkness element purple magical girl.

• On her sixteenth birthday, Hotaru informed her of her destiny to kill shit and protect people and offered her the opportunity to become a Magical Hunter. Hoshi jumped at the opportunity, for she saw it as an opportunity to atone for what happened with her mother and channel her anguish into something productive. Being a Magical Hunter gives her purpose, and she latches on to that.

14. What does she fear?

Failing to do her duty as a Magical Hunter. Opening up to people and being rejected/abandoned.

15. What are her hopes or aspirations?

idk to save the world from horrible demons and shit. Maybe write a book.

16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her?

The incident with her mother is the big one. Her family went to great lengths to keep the whole thing under wraps, and it's obviously a very painful topic of discussion, so she naturally keeps quiet about it. On that note, she keeps quiet about her family life in general – not just her mother's death, but her strained relationship with her father, her family's prestige, etc. are all things she doesn't really enjoy talking about.

RELATIONSHIPS.

1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents.

Hoshi had a relatively normal and healthy relationship with both parents when she was younger. Both mother and father loved their little girl and spoiled her rotten; for the first few years of her life, she was a happy child who wanted for nothing. Then her mother went crazy and attacked her, and her father has grown increasingly distant since then. He's never blamed Hoshi for what happened, not once, but coming to terms with everything has been understandably difficult. The woman he loved tried to kill their daughter, and he cannot fathom why this happened, nor does he really know how to deal with Hoshi, so he shipped her off to therapy and started to unintentionally distance himself from her. So their relationship is strained and hella awkward, to say the least.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

Nope, only child. She used to wish for a little brother or sister, but not so much anymore, not with her family broken as it is.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand?

Not really. She may have been close to her grandparents and aunts and uncles when she was younger, but things got... weird... after the incident with her mother.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them?

No, but her relationship with the other Magical Hunters will likely grow into something familial.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

Aside from Hotaru, she pretty much has no friends. She doesn't feel she deserves them, so she pushes everyone away.

6. Does she have other close friends?

She'll eventually make friends with the other Magical Hunters, though that will probably be a somewhat long process. Some will be closer than others, of course, though I can't say who for sure yet.

7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people?

Since she kind of discourages anyone from befriending her, but I wouldn't say she doesn't get along with people at all. She's cordial enough; she just doesn't want to be super close to anyone.

8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends?

Um, neither? She will likely end up living by the phrase “friends are the family you choose,” to be honest.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once?

Forever alone.

10. Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?

Nope.

11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest?

She may have had a crush on some boy in her class when she was younger, but ended up suppressing it because I DON'T DESERVE TO BE LOVED.

12. What does she look for in a romantic partner?

She doesn't. If she did, I think the main traits she would look for, personality-wise, would be: patience, understanding, intelligence, and quiet.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any?

No and no. I think she would be a good mother, but she's pretty much convinced herself that she would be the very worst. How can you be a good mother when you killed your own?

14. Does she have any rivals or enemies?

Who knows! Maybe one of the other Magical Hunters will develop a rivalry with her.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey scale?

Fuck if I know. Is X a valid answer?

16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her?

Not important at all. She has bigger fish to fry.

17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?

Um. She's very clean, so poor hygiene would be a huge turn-off. Ugh she is a babby idfk

BELIEFS.

1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does she fit type?

Aquarius. After performing some Google-fu, it seems to be the best-fitting sign for her. It's a fixed air sign, which suits her detached and somewhat stubborn personality pretty well. As for her Chinese sign, fuck if I know, since the timeline is pretty ambiguous.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life?

I'd say she's pretty skeptical about the existence of any gods, so it's not very important to her.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?

Her morals basically revolve around her duty as a Magical Hunter. Protect people, kill monsters. If the Devouring are threatening someone's life and she can fix that, she'll do it, no matter the cost. Eventually, once she becomes closer to the other girls, she'll be willing to throw all her ethics out the window for their sake.

4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from her own? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?

Hoshi don't curr.

5. What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational or does she have a good reason for them?

ANSWER

DAILY LIFE.

1. What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?

Her family is pretty rich! Hoshi's grandfather started some big successful company or something I guess. And her father is the oldest son, so he will (or already has) inherited the whole estate.

2. What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her?

Upper class, motherfuckers. This hasn't changed at all, haha.

3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others?

She lives with her father in a huge ass mansion. It's big and empty and sad; she's lived there all her life, and there are a lot of memories associated with the house.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on?

Whatever the hell she wants, basically. Photography equipment, basic necessities. Her lifestyle allows for her to basically spend her money however the hell she wants, though she doesn't like to flaunt that fact or anything. She's very used to being able to spend a lot of money, is all.

5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else?

Hoshi is secretly a Magical Hunter, destined to kill monsters and shit. She's pretty good at it, especially when working alone because lol what is teamwork. It gives her a purpose, something to live for, so she really enjoys it.

6. What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time?

For what I hope are very obvious reasons, she's taken to mostly solitary hobbies. Stuff that doesn't require a lot of social interaction. She enjoys photography, as being able to capture little moments and freeze them in time forever is pretty appealing. For the most part, though, she spends her spare time just patrolling the city for hideous monsters.

7. What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

Hoshi eats pretty well; three meals a day, all relatively healthy and balanced. And she enjoys cooking for herself, when she can. Drinking alcohol doesn't interest her very much. Also, she does her best to avoid eating with her father, because awkward.
